SPACE DUDES – Einmal hin und zurück

Created by Henrike Iglesias, Frank Häusermann, Olivia Hyunsin Kim, Rabea Lüthi

A Person in a white spacesuit wearing the white hood over the head and a shiny, reflective facecoverin black, red and blue is sitting comfortably on the ground. In front of the person there is a lego spaceship in grey, black with lights in blue. The person and the spaceship are being lit by a light coming from behind like a sunray.

Description text as easy read:

SPACE DUDES is a theater play.
We are a group of five people and we want to fly into space together.
But that is very expensive.
On stage, we will show you why we deserve this trip.
And bring the space into the theater hall!

Description text:

Emissions and questionable billionaires or not: space is exciting and should inspire us to create new works of art! If Elon Musk and NASA have the goal of “making space accessible to everyone” – then who is everyone? We want to be part of the next space mission! We want to go into space! For SPACE DUDES – Once there and back, the space crew, consisting of Henrike Iglesias, Frank Häusermann, Olivia Hyunsin Kim and Rabea Lüthi, dives into the visual worlds of outer space and the mockumentary genre. In an application video, shot live on stage, the artists want to convince space companies and organizations that they have earned their seats on a sponsored orbital flight – because they wouldn’t be able to afford what is probably the most expensive vacation in the world. To prepare for the trip into space, the performers transform the Sophiensæle’s Festsaal into an astronaut training course. Together, they question the touristic exploration of space, rub shoulders with their fascination for space dudes, give free rein to their curiosity and dig deep into the theater’s bag of tricks to make a piece of the universe accessible to the audience.

The performance is a collaboration between the theater collective Henrike Iglesias, the actor Frank Häusermann, the Berlin-based choreographer, director and performer Olivia Hyunsin Kim and the performer Rabea Lüthi.
